Masaki Sampei

Masaki joins DG TAKANO to lead and streamline our most recent projects, including the Universal Faucet and the Green Cleaning Technology. Before DG TAKANO, Masaki was an engineer, project manager, and for the last five years, B2B sales engineer at one of Japan’s leading electronics manufacturers. He brings his considerable project management skills and experience in high-impact stakeholder communication in order to accelerate our development and production.

To Masaki, the successful outcome of a project hinges upon the right combination of individual skill and team effort. ‘I used to do a lot of team sports, like rugby and baseball, when I was younger,’ he says, ‘so the “all for one, one for all” mentality has stuck with me ever since. I think it’s especially important for a diverse team like ours.’

Masaki sees the ideal project team as organized, yet highly flexible. As he explains, ‘Projects in a large corporation would be fully mapped out, with all tasks and responsibilities clearly divided. That provides a lot of structure, but it leaves little room for change and improvement. DG TAKANO, on the other hand, is very flexible and open to changes, but we’re lacking in structure. What I’m doing right now, is working to combine the strengths of both approaches.’

The ability to do something like that—to implement a completely new type of project structure—is what ultimately drove Masaki to the unusual decision of joining a start-up at the peak of his career. ‘I felt confident in my ability to ultimately lead a project to success, and I wanted to challenge myself to do so without all the rules and structure a corporation provides. DG TAKANO provided me the opportunity to do so, and I think the solutions we’re developing can do a lot of good in the world.
